The beach is the highlight of course and the pristine golden sand is only 200 metres from your front door. Even when you are not enjoying the beach you will hear its call as the waves constantly lap the shore. Some of Victoria's best ocean fishing can be enjoyed at Golden Beach and every year thousands of visitors flock to take part in the many fishing competitions.

Walk around Golden Beach and Paradise Beach (starting at your front door) and be among kangaroos, emus, echidnas, wombats and beautiful wildflowers whilst admiring the prolific bird life including crimson and eastern rosellas, yellow tailed black cockatoos, blue wrens, eastern spine bill and many other honeyeaters.

If you are feeling more energetic you can enjoy bowls, a nine-hole golf course, free tennis,  and the kids can play in the park, enjoy the cricket pitch, football oval or BMX track and best of all -
everything is within easy walking distance!

You can launch your boat in McLellan’s Strait and begin your adventures on the Gippsland Lakes. McLennan's Strait is a long channel of water that connects Lake Wellington to Lake Victoria. From your boat (or just enjoying a picnic on-shore) there are extensive wetlands on the northern side of the straits that are important bird habitats -so important that they are listed as “Wetlands of International Importance”.

Six kilometres from Golden Beach Township lays The Trinculo Shipwreck. The barque Trinculo weighed 318 tons and was built 1858 measuring 138.1 feet. It was forced ashore by a gale in 1879. The ship struck a sandbar 30 metres from shore and slewed broadside to the beach. Luckily all on board survived after the heroic efforts of the crew. Also surviving to this day is the wreck which is best seen after king tides have removed lots of sand!
